Allotment
Mild steel road form line pins *
I use these for my HPPE black water pipe hoops instead of bamboo canes which rot and snap off inside the pipes!
Just push or bang them into the ground and slide the water pipe over the top for a secure, no-nonsense, rot-proof way to hold your hoops up and in place.
I bought the 600mm long x 16mm diameter pins.
Greenhouse
Hozelock grow bag waterer *
I bought two of these in 2015 and then four more in 2016, and they remain one of the best purchases I have made. I grow tomatoes, chillies, aubergines, cape gooseberries, melons and even watermelons in them.
They save me so much time when it comes to watering and feeding due to the large water reservoir that sits under the grow bag. The other benefit is that there’s a ready supply of food and water when the plants need it. Obviously, it needs topping up, but it beats watering every day and worrying about plants drying out.
The waterers are made of tough plastic and have been used every season and sometimes over winter without any signs of cracks or breaks. I’m still using the same capillary matting that came with them too!

Bahco Laplander Folding Saw *
I bought this saw many years ago and use it regularly on the allotment, in the garden and when we go camping or foraging for my spoon carving projects. It’s a handy size and sharp, so makes quick work of any wood that needs cutting.
The blade is 190 mm with a non-stick coating which helps the blade slide through wood and branches. The toothing cuts in both directions, and the blade locks safely in both the open and closed positions, making it feel safe and easy to use.
